Zoo seeks names for three Bengali tiger cubs

Three male Bengali tiger cubs which were born three months ago at the Dehiwala Zoo, were on public display for the first time yesterday (2). Presented in 2008 were three cubs of a male animal called ‘Robin’ brought from China and a Bengali tigress called ‘Girl’.A Bengali tigress “Kella” gave birth to these cubs three months ago.

Currently, there are two pairs of Bengal tigers at the Dehiwala Zoo and there are seven Bengal tigers in the Dehiwala Zoo with these three cubs.

The three newborns are now in good health. The Department of National Zoology invites school children to suggest names for the three new male Bengali tiger cubs.

The names can be mailed to ‘Director, National Zoo, Dehiwala’ or by email- [email protected] before June 10.
