KOREA: North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast Sunday, South Korea’s military said, a day after Seoul and Washington completed their first joint drills involving a US aircraft carrier in more than four years. The launches took place over about 30 minutes on Sunday morning, it added.

Five teens wounded in house party shooting

US: Five teens were hospitalized Saturday, two in critical condition, after gunfire broke out at an overnight High School graduation party in West Texas, authorities said. The teens, ranging in age from 16 to 18, were wounded on Saturday at a home in Socorro, a town on the Mexican border near El Paso.

Passenger plane narrowly escapes missile

A dramatic video of a passenger aircraft ‘narrowly escaping being hit by a missile’ has been shared by a news portal, sparking security concerns in the South China Sea.

A report by Eurasian Times said the plane was flying over the South China Sea when the pilot was issued an emergency alert by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) to “turn left 90 degrees immediately” to avoid being hit by the missile.

Man stabs doctor, 2 nurses at LA hospital

US: A man stabbed a doctor and two nurses inside the Encino Hospital Medical Center in San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles (LA), California and remained inside a room for hours before police arrested him, authorities said. The man had parked his car in the middle of a street and went to the emergency room, where he asked for treatment for anxiety before stabbing the doctor and nurses, authorities said.- INDIAN EXPRESS

Ten killed in Indian factory explosion

INDIA: At least 10 people were killed and 22 injured in a chemicals explosion at an electronics factory in northern India’s Hapur district on Saturday, a police official said.

The accident happened at an industrial facility in Dhaulana, about 60 km (37 miles) from the capital, New Delhi, police spokesman Surendra Singh said.

Train crash kills 5 near German resort

GERMANY: A train derailed near a Bavarian Alpine resort in southern Germany killing at least five people and injuring dozens in a region gearing up to host the G7 summit in late June. Several carriages of the red-coloured local train were lying on their sides on a grassy area next to a highway.

“Around 30 passengers were injured, 15 of them so seriously that they have had to be admitted to nearby hospitals,” they said, adding that a huge rescue operation was underway.
