What makes Darwin Nunez worth €100m million player for Liverpool?

New Delhi:

Liverpool has gone against their own tides. Signing Darwin Nunez for a reported amount of €75 million pounds, which is speculated to rise as high as €100 million, is highly unlike Liverpool. What benefits would the Reds achieve from their most expensive deal of the history is something that the football world is interested in knowing.

Nunez is a 22-year-old player who has played for Portuguese side Benfica and has been a star of the eye for the team. Nunez has brought himself in spotlight by playing spectacularly against Liverpool itself last season.

THIS match changed the game for Darwin Nunez

In UEFA Champions League’s quarterfinal match, Reds could only manage to draw against Benfica and the main reason behind it was Darwin Nunez. Though, Liverpool’s progress in the tournament was not hampered because of the game but Nunez had proved himself as rising star that day when he breached through the defending net of Liverpool and surpassed world’s costliest keeper Alisson Becker and that too, four times, though two were disallowed.

Nunez when compared with current attacking options

Darwin Nunez playing style can be similar to the other attackers of Jurgen Klopp and thus, he can be an asset for the club if moulded properly. Though, the records show that he currently out performs Liverpool legend like Mane and Salah. The Uruguay footballer is beating Mane and Jota when it comes of shots taken, dribbles completed, and chances created per game and Salah is left behind in goals per game.

Fulfilling False 9?

If Nunez can be used to perform False 9 in team, it will best compliment the clever movements of Jota and dynamism of Diaz. The speed, raw potential and goalscoring instinct that comes with Nunez is probably something that has convinced Klopp for this club record deal.

Can Nunez adjust to Klopp’s high pressure game?

Nunez is quite skillful and agile when it comes to his playing style. However, the Premier League and Liverpool’s high-pressing style could be alien to him. It’ll definitely take him some adjusting period to imbibe Klopp’s physical and intensive pressing game. If Nunez could add this to his game, then sky is the limit for the talented 22-year-old.

As many big clubs set their target at the Uruguay player, Nunez has chosen to go with the Reds for the obvious reasons. Now, what shape will Klopp give to his wet clay will be a decider of the future of Liverpool.
