Weather Update: Today there may be heavy rain in these places, Meteorological Department has issued this alert

Weather Update:

Amidst the scorching heat in many states of the country, monsoon rains have started in many states of the country, while in some states, pre-monsoon rains have brought relief to the people. It is expected that soon the monsoon will knock in all the states across the country.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted scattered to widespread rain in Delhi in the next three-days due to western disturbances. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of change in the weather due to the western disturbance moving from Afghanistan and Pakistan towards Jammu and Kashmir.

Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in the northeastern states and some people have also lost their lives. The flood situation in Assam is grim and several major rivers are in spate. Prime Minister Modi on Saturday called up Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to inquire about the current flood situation in the state and assured all possible help from the Centre. Modi has also expressed concern over the difficulties being faced by the people affected by the floods.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon is likely to reach the remaining parts of central India and many parts of northwest India between June 23 and June 29.

According to the Meteorological Department, today many other states of the country will receive rain with thunder and lightning. According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi and NCR. Light rain is possible over North and East Rajasthan, parts of Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, moderate to heavy rains may occur over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today.

Light to moderate rain is expected over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa.

Skymet Weather President GP Sharma said that a cyclonic circulation will form over West Bengal, North Odisha and parts of adjoining Bangladesh and it will change the wind direction over Indo-Gangetic plains.

Mahesh Palawat, vice-president, Skymet Weather, says that the monsoon is likely to reach Delhi around the normal date of June 27-28 and as of now there is no such obstacle which can stop its progress. He said the picture would become clear in the next one week.
