Vikram, starring megastar Kamal Haasan, released in theatres on May 3 and has received rave reviews. The film has entered Rs 100 crore in just three days of its release. Also starring Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, the film has breached Rs 150 crore mark at the worldwide box office within its first weekend. had a huge opening day of Rs. 34 cr on Friday and maintained its sensational hold on Saturday adding Rs 31.35 cr. The film has the best day on Sunday when it minted Rs 35 crores at the box office.
Vikram grossed Rs. 20.25 crores approx in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, recording the highest ever Sunday in the state The film also performed strongly outside Tamil Nadu. In Kerala, it grossed Rs. 15 crores during the weekend, which is the highest collection for a Tamil film in the state. The film is yet to pass the Monday test, but as of now, there’s not denying in saying that the Kamal Haasan starrer is emerging as a blockbuster. The film has also been dubbed in Hindi and has released in selected screens. The Hindi version of the film didn’t collect much but collections improved over the weekend, hitting Rs. 1 crore on Sunday.
Vikram’s excellent performs at the box office has left director Lokesh Kanagraj overwhelmed. In an interaction, he has said that he hasn’t been this emotional ever. hen Lokesh wondered how he’s going to repay the love audience have showered on his film, Kamal Haasan advised him to not get complacent.
Lokesh took to Twitter to thank audience for their acceptance of the movie. He wrote: “I haven’t been this emotional ever. The acceptance you’ve showed #Vikram and me has been so overwhelming. I don’t know how I’m gonna repay you guys for all this love. Ever grateful to @ikamalhaasan sir and my amazing people. So moved. Love you all (sic).”
Reacting to this, Kamal Haasan said, “The only way you can do any debt management with a loving audience is to never become complacent. Do honest back breaking work, they love and respect that. My energy comes from their love. All power to your endeavours. RKFI will proudly support you like we did this time. Rock on (sic).”
Vikram, which stars Suriya in a cameo, sets up the stage for a franchise in the making.
