The nationwide protest has intensified over the controversial statement of now suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on Mohammad Prophet. According to reports from Ranchi, the city SP was injured while trying to control the protesting crowd. In many states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, the situation became tense after Friday prayers. Right now the atmosphere is serious. Protesters also staged a fierce demonstration at Delhi’s iconic Jama Masjid.
Meanwhile, as per the latest reports, curfew has been imposed in several areas of Ranchi after some policemen were injured while trying to control the angry mob near Hanuman temple. During stone pelting on Mahavir temple, people hid in the temple to save their lives. The police resorted to lathicharge and tear gas shells to control the crowd. Also fired in the air.
After the Friday prayers, a large number of protesters took to the road. When the police stopped them, the crowd became furious and they clashed with the police.
Meanwhile, a video of a policeman has surfaced, in which he can be heard talking to a senior officer on the phone. He says, ‘Look, see the stone is moving. Sir the stone is going on, we have felt it on the waist. My mobile is broken. Send the force quickly. Sir is pelting stones.
Hundreds of people in Punjab, Bengal, Telangana, Maharashtra also protested demanding the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.
