Chandigarh:
Punjab Revenue Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa on Tuesday said demands of the state revenue officers’, who are on indefinite mass leave, do not abide by the rules of the High Court and the Supreme Court. The strike was called by the Punjab Revenue Officers’ Association against the suspension of two tehsildars.
“Their demand as per norms by High Court and Supreme Court is wrong. Registering without NOC has always been wrong. If they don’t come back to work, this will be counted as no work, no pay with break in service,” said Brahm Shankar Jimpa.
A day earlier, the Punjab government on Monday declared the strike of the revenue staff is illegal. AAP-led state government announced that ‘no work, no pay’. It has warned the employees to return to work or their salary will be deducted.
The revenue staff including district level revenue officers, tehsildars and naib-tehsildars, on Wednesday announced a strike.
The offices of the Revenue Department were closed due to the strike leading to inconvenience to the general public.
As per media reports, the Revenue Department officers are accusing the government of filing fake corruption cases against its officials.
It should be noted that this is the third strike state revenue officers in past two months.
