The fall of Boris Johnson? ; Westminster to see no-confidence motion today

New Delhi:

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is trapped in an unwanted situation. The Conservatives, which are currently the ruling party in the United Kingdoms have called for a leadership ballot.

The Conservative MPs will hold a no confidence motion vote against Boris Johnson. If he is unable to garner the support of majority out of 359 Conservative lawmakers, he will be replaced as conservative leader and Prime Minister.

Party official Graham Brady said that he had received a lot of letters from MPs who demanded a vote of ‘no confidence’ against Boris Johnson.

The sudden frenzy that might snatch away Johnson’s position in office is being looked like a result of the ‘Partygate’ scandal.

What is the ‘Partygate’ Scandal?

The Boris Johnson’s leadership faced heavy criticism over lockdown parties which took place at his official residence- Downing Street. He was earlier fined 50 Euro because of attending a rule-breaking birthday party- for himself.

Boris Johnson also faced allegations by civil servant Sue Gray, as she was the one who published a report on the Downing Street parties. She stated in the report that she found disregard for any sort of Covid-19 safety guidelines.

She also stated that warnings against gatherings were also issued. However, Boris Johnson said that he took “full responsibility for everything that took place on my watch”.

He, however, said he wanted to “keep moving forward” and suggested that he won’t quit.
