Suspect held for robbery in Wattala

Wattala Police have arrested a suspect who broke into a house in the Alwis Town area in Hendala, Wattala, and stole property worth around Rs. 1.4 million.

Among the items stolen were a men’s watch worth Rs. 900,000, an Apple iPhone worth Rs. 200,000 and a gold necklace worth Rs. 300,000.

Police said they were able to make an arrest.

The suspect was arrested and interrogated on the night of June 25 in Alwis Town, police said.

The suspect was produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (26) and remanded at Mahara.

Wattala Police acting OIC of Crimes Division, SI Priyantha, Sergeant Jude, W.P.S. Sunethra and Constable Prasanga are conducting further investigations.
