The Police Special Task Force (STF) yesterday (16) defused a smoke bomb hidden in a parcel on the roadside about 500 meters away from the Katuwapitiya Church.
This bomb has been found in a parcel left at Kurusa junction on the way to the church.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the bomb was found following a complaint lodged with the police by a person who was travelling on the road. Police suspect that the bomb was planted by someone at the scene to create unrest among the people.
Police said that the distance between the place where this parcel was found and the Katuwapitiya church is about 500 meters.
