SLFP case against Minister Nimal Siripala settled

The Enjoining Order issued by the Colombo District Court preventing the removal of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva from his posts in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) was dismissed yesterday.

When the case was taken up yesterday before Colombo District Court Judge Purnima Paranagama, plaintiff and respondents were pointed out that there was a settlement between both  parties and the District Court Judge accepted the submissions made by counsel of both parties and allowed the case to be settled.

The District Court judge ordered both parties to present the conciliation document to the court and allowed the plaintiff and the respondent to conclude the case without signing the case file.

At a previous occasion, the lawyers requested that the censorship be extended to consider the settlement.

Colombo District Judge Purnima Paranagama was issued an enjoining order suspending the removal of Nimal Siripala de Silva from the Central Committee, the Executive Council, the District Leadership, the post of Electoral Organizer and other posts.

The Enjoining Order was issued following a case filed by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva against SLFP Chairman Maithripala Sirisena, party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and four others.

Attorney Sanath Wijewardena filed the complaint while President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva appeared before Court on behalf of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The petition was filed seeking annulment of a press release issued by the first accused Maithripala Sirisena and a statement declaring that he holds the post of Senior Vice President of the Party and other posts.
