'Show strict attitude for not wearing masks in flight': DGCA issues new guidelines

New Delhi:

Amid rising cases of Covid-19 in the country, civil aviation regulator DGCA on Wednesday issued new guidelines for air travelers and made face masks mandatory at all airports and inside flights. The DGCA has said in its new guidelines that the passengers who will not wear masks in the flight can be strictly dealt with.

The civil aviation regulator further warned that passengers found without face masks should be removed from the aircraft before departure and should follow Covid appropriate behaviour. Giving details, civil aviation regulator DGCA said that CISF personnel will be in charge of implementing mask guidelines at airports.

The new DGCA guidelines come days after the Delhi High Court ordered strict action against passengers who refuse to follow the Covid safety norms.

In its June 3 order, the high court called for strict action, observing that the pandemic is not over yet. “If the passenger refuses to follow the protocol despite the reminder, action should be taken as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health or DGCA,” it said. The court said that they can be physically removed.
