Shah Rukh Khan to play a scientist in Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, confirms Ayan Mukherji

New Delhi:

Fans of actor Shah Rukh Khan are on cloud nine. The actor who has been on a hiatus since 2018 has announced three films this year. Other than Pathaan with Deepika Padukone-John Abraham, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki and Atlee’s Jawan with Nayanthara, it is now reported that the actor will also be seen in a pivotal role in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in leading roles.

Fans have long been speculating SRK’s cameo in the film since the teaser of the film was released as they spotted the actor in blink and miss appearances. Now, Ayan Mukerji has confirmed that Shah Rukh will be seen in an extended cameo in the film. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in key roles. At an event ahead of film’s trailer launch, Ayan said that Shah Rukh shot for the film over two weeks. Without sharing much-details into his role, the filmmaker said that Shah Rukh’s character will leave fans surprised.

According to an Indian Express report,  “SRK is supposedly playing a scientist in Brahmastra and his role is quite important to the film’s story graph. His role is at least around 15-20 minutes. The superstar completed shooting his part some months ago, and is totally looking forward to the film’s release.”

Earlier today, the makers of Brahmastra unveiled Mouni Roy’s character from the film. Mouni as Junoon will be seen taking on Ranbir’s Shiva with her mysterious powers. Introducing her character, Ayan wrote, “A lot of people, I think, are going to walk out of Brahmāstra, talking about Mouni’s Performance as Junoon. Moun – who has deep belief and deep surrender for Lord Shiva – has always understood Brahmāstra very naturally – and with that understanding, she really killed it with her part in our movie! My first meeting with her, I offered her a ‘special appearance’ in Brahmāstra. Eventually she shot with us from our first day to our last schedule, and is really, the surprise package in the film!”

Brahmastra is scheduled to release in theatres on September 9.
