Samrat Prithviraj Opening Day Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar starrer receives mild response from audience

New Delhi:

Samrat Prithviraj opening day box office collection is out. The first-day box office collection of Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, and Manushi Chillar starrer Samrat Prithviraj is not impressive. The film was released in theatres on June 3, 2022, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Samrat Prithviraj is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj language poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay Kumar, whose last offering Bachchhan Paandey emerged as a box-office disaster, has been out and about promoting the film. From Home Minister Amit Shah to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, the actor has been holding special screenings for the who’s who of the country. However, it seems like, despite a lot of effort, the film is going to have an arduous journey at the box office.

All that valour could not save Akshay Kumar’s film from sinking at the box office on Day 1 as it opened to a lukewarm response from the audience. Samrat Prithviraj collected between Rs. 10.30 cr and 10.80 cr net at the box office on its first day. While the figures could be considered decent for a post-pandemic film, we recently saw Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 minting over Rs 14 cr at the box office. Not to mention South films which have managed to secure a 100-crore weekend among the Hindi-speaking audience.

Samrat Prithiviraj locked horns with two films at the box office. Major starring Adivi Sesh and Saiee Manjrekar and Vikram – Hitlist starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupati and Fahadh Faasil also released in theatres this Friday. However, Samrat Prithviraj did not face any tough competition from these two film in the north belt. While the Day 1 collection of the Akshay Kumar starrer is below expectations, the film is expected to grow during the weekend. Saturday collection of the film will decide whether it is headed in terms of numbers.
