Rhea Chakraborty unable to attend IIFA, says 'an agency has issued lookout notice against me'

Rhea Chakraborty has been keeping low since she was arrested in a drug case related to the death of actor and her former boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor, who is currently out on a bail, is unable to travel to Abu Dhabi for four days to attend the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. In a statement on Thursday, Rhea said that she will not be able to travel as she has a lookout notice against her, which was issued by an agency.

 Rhea was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs case and her passport was also deposited.

On Wednesday, the court ordered to hand over Rhea’s passport to her and permitted her to travel to Abu Dhabi from June 2 to 5. Riya’s lawyer had appealed to the court that the actor had to go to Abu Dhabi for IIFA 2022, for which she should be given her passport. The court accepted the application and directed them to hand over her passport. Rhea had submitted to the court that she was invited by the IIFA director to walk on the green carpet, give an award and conduct an interaction at the awards function. The Chehre actor had also submitted that due to the criminal case, she had suffered financial setbacks and her acting career too was affected for which she needed opportunities like attending the award function. She had also mentioned that her parents are financially dependent on her.

Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020 after WhatsApp chats with drug peddlers were recovered from her phone. Along with her, her brother Showik Chakraborty was also arrested. . The case was registered against her after the death of Sushant Rajput on June 14, 2020.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rhea Chakraborty was last seen in Rumi Jaffery’s Chehre. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Annu Kapoor among others.
