Protesters at the Jama Masjid raised slogans, demanding the arrest of former BJP spokesperson, Nupur Sharma who made controversial remarks against Prophet Muhammad in a live TV debate. As per the latest media reports, a heavy police force has been deployed outside the historical mosque.
People of the Muslim community came together holding placards and large banners against the former BJP spokesperson.
Even though the protest is largely peaceful but police personnel in large numbers have been deployed there to prevent any unpleasant situation. Despite Nupur Sharma’s suspension from the party, people of the Muslim community are not satisfied and seeking her arrest immediately.
Recently, many Arab countries summoned Indian envoys for Nupur Sharma’s remarks on the Prophet. People of these countries demanded boycott of Indian products. As a result of this, Indian shopowners in many Arab countries bore the brunt.
