Nupur Sharma Controversy:

The Delhi Police has taken action against expelled BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal. The IFSO team of the Delhi Police has registered cases against various people including Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal under various sections.

The FIR filed on Wednesday said that the comments by these people was an attempt to and create hatred and enmity among different communities.

According to the Delhi Police, the FIR includes the names of Nupur Sharma, Naveen Jindal, Shadab Chouhan, Saba Naqvi, Maulana Mufti Nadeem, Abdur Rehman, Gulzar Ansari, Anil Kumar Meena and Pooja Shakun. 

Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Tuesday said it had provided security to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma because she was receiving death threats after making controversial religious remarks.

The role of social media institutions will also be investigated.

The case came to light after BJP leader Nupur Sharma was suspended for allegedly making controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad in a TV debate. Police have taken action against several persons. At the same time, the police will also investigate the role of various social media entities in promoting false information.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma and leader Naveen Jindal from the party’s primary membership after allegedly making inflammatory remarks against a particular community. Suspending both the leaders, the BJP said that it respects all religions and is against any ideology which insults any sect or religion.

The Gulf countries had reacted sharply to the remarks of the former BJP leader. After which India said that it has taken strict action against those who made controversial remarks against minorities.

The FIRs against Nupur Sharma started when a viral video claimed that the now expelled BJP leader had made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a debate on the Gyanvapi issue on a television channel.
