New Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan teased! Check details

New Delhi:

The next EV to be offered on Hyundai’s global list will be the Ioniq 6 sedan. The captions show the proportions of the sedan but the silhouette is smooth and formal. The smooth design facilitates low drag that allows for increased distance and faster speed.

It will be based on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 and may also receive similar powertrains. You may get a 77.4kWh battery that should bring comfortably more than 500km.

Hyundai’s dedicated EV arm Ioniq will grow with the arrival of a new model this year. In its latest statement, the Korean carmaker has dropped a suggestion about the Ioniq 6, which he calls an electric streamliner.

The term ‘streamliner’ was once used to refer to high-speed trains whose design was designed to cross the air easily. The Ioniq 6 will be an electric sedan that will also have a simple design as noted in the teaser with images of smooth black stone and clouds flowing over the mountains.

When it comes to EVs, having a position that influences slow drag is important as it helps to improve the efficiency of the vehicle and increase the usable range for each charge.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is expected to take the style inspiration from the ‘Prophecy’ concept which also has an extremely smooth exterior. Spy guns from the next electric sedan under cover suggest that the two have very similar dimensions.

The Ioniq 6 is poised to become the world’s second most popular electric offering from Hyundai, following the Ioniq 5’s midsize crossover hatchback. The sedan will be based on the same E-GMP location and is expected to use the same battery and powertrain components as the ‘5 ‘as well.

That includes a 77.4kWh battery pack and a choice of AWD dual engine or RWD powertrains for a single multi-engine engine. Based on the calculations of Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 should easily be able to provide a distance of more than 500km.

Hyundai is likely to launch the Ioniq 6 soon when the EV hits the Korean showrooms at the end of 2022. The Ioniq line for EVs is set for India and starts with Ioniq 5 and ‘6 ’may be introduced here by 2023.

Internationally, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will take on the likes of the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4 and the upcoming version of the Mercedes EQC.
