Nayanathara is set to tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend Vignesh Shivn after seven years of dating. The couple is set to take the plunge in Chennai on Thursday, June 9. Over the weekend, they met Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and offered him an invitation to their wedding. Vignesh Shivn is a film director, film producer, actor and lyricist who is predominantly active in Tamil cinema.
A picture of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivn posing with the Tamil Nadu CM Stalin is doing rounds on social media. It shows the couple presenting the CM with a bouquet. On the occasion, both Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan were dressed in whites. Actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of MK Stalin, was also present on the occasion. According to a leading entertainment portal, the wedding will take place at a resort near East Coast Road in Chennai. “Nayan and Vignesh are getting married at a resort in Mahabs, (Mahabalipuram) in Tamil Nadu. It will be low-key in presence of close friends and family members followed by a lavish wedding reception in Chennai. The wedding preparations are on in full swing. Everything would be very traditional and personalised,” the portal quoted a source as saying.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan met each other on the sets of the 2015 flick, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. It’s been a few years since Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan made their relationship public, but the duo has been tight-lipped about their wedding. However, in a rare event, the lady superstar confirmed being engaged to the filmmaker a while back. Talking about the engagement, Nayanthara said on a chat show, “It was my engagement ring. We are private people so we didn’t wish to have a grand ceremony. When we decide to get married, we will definitely inform everyone. Our engagement happened in the presence of close family members. We haven’t decided on our wedding yet.”
