Kilinochchi Hospital’s oxygen unit damaged, cost over Rs.53 mn

A group of persons had broken into the oxygen filling unit at the Kilinochchi Hospital on Monday and severely damaged all machinery at the unit with the cost of the damages estimated to be around Rs.53 million.

 The Kilinochchi Hospital has incurred a loss of Rs. 53 million while 99 oxygen cylinders have been imported from the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for emergencies, an official from the Kilinochchi Hospital Administration said.

The cause of the destruction of the hospital’s oxygen filling centre or the persons involved have not yet been revealed and the Kilinochchi Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
