Kashmir: Union Home Minister Amit Shah begins security meeting over targeted killings

In the backdrop of the targeted killing Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday has convened a the high-level security review meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the national capital.

In the meeting, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, NSA Ajit Doval, Army chief Gen Manoj Pande, Union Home Secy Ajay Kumar Bhalla, DG CRPF Kuldiep Singh, Border Security Force chief Pankaj Singh, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh are present among other key officials. 

Recently on Thursday evening, one migrant labourer, identified as 17-year-old Dilkhush Kumar from Bihar, was killed and another sustained injuries after terrorists shot at them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam. 

This attack comes only hours after a bank manager from Rajasthan, identified as Vijay Kumar, was shot dead in Kulgam. He was shot right outside his office. The Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack.

A couple of days ago, Hindu woman teacher Rajni Bala, hailing from Jammu’s Samba district, was shot dead by terrorists at a government school in Gopalpora, Kulgam. 

Protesting against the spate of targeted killings in Kashmir, non-local government employees in a huge number on Thursday staged a massive demonstration demanding immediate transfers to their home districts. 

The agitating government employees threatened that they will not return to work as the government could not provide them a secure atmosphere to live in the valley.
