Kashmir: 3 Indian Army soldiers injured in blast inside car in Shopian

Three Indian Army soldiers were injured in a blast inside a vehicle in the Sedow area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The injured were subsequently hospitalised. The condition of one among the three injured Indian Army soldiers is said to be critical.

The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistan-backed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the explosion. According to the TRF statement, the blast was triggered by an IED.

The blast reportedly took place inside a vehicle. Initial investigation has revealed that the vehicle in which the blast took place was a private hired vehicle. 

According to Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar, this blast was either caused by a grenade attack, or an IED was already kept inside the vehicle. He also said that a malfunctioning battery may have caused the explosion. 

Police officials said that the nature of blast in which three Indian Army soldiers were injured is being investigated.

“A blast took place inside a private hired vehicle at Sedow, Shopian. 3 soldiers were injured and have beeen shifted to hospital. The nature and source of the blast is being investigated,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told the media.

Significantly, over the last few days, Hindus, especially Kashmiri Pandits, have beentargeted in Jammu and Kashmir. A Hindu teacher was murdered in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday. This teacher – named Rajni Bala – had returned to Kashmir after 27 years.
