International Yoga Day 2022: PM Modi leads nationwide celebrations

International Yoga Day 2022:

Today is the 8th International Yoga Day. On this occasion, people all over the world including India are practicing yoga to spread awareness about it. Seeing the importance of yoga in human life, from the year 2015, International Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world on 21st June.

The theme of this year’s Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. It means Yoga for Humanity. Keeping this theme in mind this year, Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world.

International Yoga Day: ITBP jawans did yoga

The eighth International Yoga Day is being celebrated in Assam today. 33 Battalion ITBP personnel practice yoga at Lachit Ghat of Brahmaputra river in Guwahati.

This year the Government of India is celebrating International Yoga Day in a special way. 75 ministers of Modi government took part in yoga programs at 75 different historical and cultural places of the country.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing yoga at Mysore Palace in Karnataka.

At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah is participating in a yoga program at the holy Jyotirlinga Trimbakeshwar temple complex in Nashik.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is attending a yoga program in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

While the country’s foreign minister S. Jaishankar is participating in a yoga practice program at Delhi’s Lotus Temple.

Why is International Yoga Day celebrated?

It is worth noting that it was started by Prime Minister Modi himself in the year 2014. Prime Minister Modi had proposed to celebrate Yoga Day during the meeting of the United Nations. After which on 11th December 2014 it was approved that from now onwards every year 21st June will be celebrated as International Yoga Day. Following the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the proposal for International Yoga Day was approved by the United States in the United Nations General Assembly. After which it was first celebrated on 21 June 2015 as World Yoga Day all over the world.
