Indian NSA Ajit Doval has assured strict action on Prophet row, claims Iran

Iran Foreign Minister:

Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is on a three-day visit to India. The visit is taking place amid a heated controversy over remarks regarding Prophet Mohammad.

Thirteen Islamic countries, including Iran, have objected to this. From this point of view, the Delhi Visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister is considered important. After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Abdullahian also met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

No mention in Indian statement

After the meeting, the Iranian embassy claimed that NSA Doval assured that strict action would be taken against those who made comments regarding the prophet of Islam.

The statement by Iran said that the Indian government will deal with the culprits in such a way that other people will learn a lesson. He said that he was satisfied with the attitude of the Indian authorities in dealing with the culprits.

However, no such dialogue is mentioned in the official statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Earlier, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister.

The meeting discussed further strengthening of relations between the two countries. Despite expressing displeasure over former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks on the Prophet, most Islamic countries are not in the mood to escalate tensions in relations with India. Despite officially objecting to the matter, Iran has maintained its foreign minister’s visit to India.

Respect all religions: Indian embassy

The Indian Embassy has stated in its statement that in line with our cultural heritage and strong cultural traditions of unity in diversity, the Indian Government respects all religions. Strict action has already been taken against those who make derogatory remarks. Meanwhile, Libya’s Foreign Ministry in a statement strongly condemned the insulting remarks and called for strengthening the values of tolerance and denial of acts of violence and hatred.
