Hijab Row: Instagram post calls for beheading of Shri Ram Sena chief, BJP leader

Hijab Row:

The ongoing controversy over wearing hijab in classrooms has increased in Karnataka. Now a demand for the beheading of BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna and Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Mutalik has been raised on the social media platform Instagram.

BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna (who is also a member of the college administration) said, “It is very common in public life to receive such messages and calls through social media. Traitors issue such threats from abroad. I will not take it seriously. It is a part of life. We are doing our job within the ambit of the Constitution. An Instagram post about me and Pramod Mutalik doesn’t matter. We will not back down.”

“I’m not worried about the Instagram post. However, I want to know who the locals are behind the issue. We’ll find out,” he said.

Despite several warnings from college officials, 24 students were suspended on Tuesday in Uppinangadi town for trying to wear hijab in class.

The notice was issued to the students after they tried to protest against not being allowed to wear hijab. The notice states that students must respond within three days of receiving the notice. It also mentions that the students colluded with external elements and opposed the order of the Karnataka High Court.
