'He's detained, not arrested': Shakti Kapoor on son Siddhanth Kapoor's involvement in Bengaluru drug case

New Delhi:

Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhanth Kapoor was detained by Bengaluru police after he tested positive for drugs at a Bengaluru rave party. He was among the six people whose samples tested positive for drug intake post police raid. His father Shakti Kapoor is shocked after this incident. In a recent interview with HT City, the veteran actor said, “I’m in Mumbai and I don’t know what is happening. I got to know from news channels only. All I know as of now is that there is no arrest and Siddhanth has only been detained.”

According to reports, the Bengaluru Police raided a rave party on Sunday night where Siddhanth, 37, was found consuming drugs. He was later tested for drug intake and was found positive.

When asked if Siddhanth was in Bengaluru for work, Shakti adds, “Yes, he is a DJ (disc jockey) and he plays at parties, and that’s what he was in Bengaluru for. I don’t know where are all these reports coming from.” The veteran actor further asserted that he will soon talk to his son, adding, “this can’t be true.”

Earlier, Bengaluru Police told ANI. “Siddhanth has tested positive for drugs, he has been brought to Ulsoor Police Station,” said Dr. Bheemashankar S. Guled, DCP, East division, Bengaluru City.

Siddhanth made his acting debut with Salman Khan’s 1997 film, Judwaa, in which he played the role of young Rangeela. He has worked as an assistant producer in films like Bhgambhag, Bhool Bhulaiya, and Chup Chup Ke. He returned to acting with Shootout at Wadala in 2013 and went on to feature in Ugly, Jazbaa, and Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship. He also worked with Shraddha Kapoor in Haseena Parkar. He was last seen in Chehre, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Annu Kapoor, and Emraan Hashmi.

In 2020, Siddhanth sister Shraddha Kapoor was questioned by Narcotics Control Bureau zonal office in relation with a drug case related to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Shraddha had worked with the actor in Chhichhore.
