The Russia-based carrier Aeroflot flight which was grounded in Colombo on a Court order left the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA),Katunayake yesterday afternoon after the Court lifted its Injunction Order.
The flight left the BIA at 6.11 pm with a crew of five. There were no passengers on the flight.
The Colombo Commercial High Court yesterday ordered to suspend an injunction order issued against an aircraft belonging to Russian “Aeroflot” airline from leaving Sri Lanka.
The censorship was issued by Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Sethunga following a motion filed by the Attorney General.
An Enjoining Order was issued on June 2 preventing the flight from leaving the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.
The Enjoining Order was issued following a compensation case filed by Celestial Aviation Trading Limited in Ireland. The Irish company has requested the Court to issue an order to the Katunayake airport authorities to detain the aircraft until the money is settled, as the Irish company owes money from the respondent Russian airline.
