Police yesterday found the body of a 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Ganeshapuram, Vavuniya. Police had found the body inside an abandoned well near her house.
The girl had gone to a tuition class the previous day and the parents of the girl had lodged a complaint with the police as she had not returned home.
Police and villagers had searched for the missing student throughout the night on Monday but had been unable to locate her.
The body of the missing girl was later found by the Vavuniya Police and the Army in a well a short distance from her house.The Police had been aided by a sniffer dog. The deceased has been identified as 15-year-old, a resident of Vavuniya. Police found her sandals, clothes and a bag near the spot where the girl’s body was found.
Police also found some liquor bottles and remains of some food items nearby and they suspect several persons may have been consuming alcohol there the previous night.
