Enough fuel stocks to carry out port operations - Minister

Adequate fuel reserves are available with the Colombo Port and there won’t be disruption to port operations, Ports and Shipping Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said.

While refuting social media reports that port sector operations are being severely affected with the scarcity of fuel, the Minister said that the Colombo port maintains a fair volume of fuel stocks.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman Dr. Prasantha Jayamanna also emphasized that adequate fuel reserves are maintained at the port fuel reserves and there will be no disruption whatsoever to operations atthe Colombo port due to the current fuel crisis. The Colombo Port is operating as normal these days. The fuel reserve has a stock of 32,000 metric tonnes of fuel at present.
