DGCA imposes penalty on Air India for denying boarding to ticket holders

Air India Penalty: 

Former national carrier Air India has been dealt a big blow by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

has been fined Rs 10 lakh for allegedly denying boarding to passengers holding valid tickets.

The DGCA has also advised Air India to immediately put a mechanism in place to resolve the issue.

The DGCA issued a statement warning Air India of further action if the Tata-owned airline fails to act on the directions of the aviation watchdog.

“After going through AI submissions, as part of enforcement action, the competent authority has levied a penalty of Rs. 10 Lakh. In addition, the Airline has been advised to immediately put the systems in place to resolve the issue failing which further action shall be taken by DGCA,” the DGCA statement said.
