Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain's custody extended by 14 days

New Delhi: 

More than two weeks after his arrest, the judicial custody of Delhi minister and AAP leader Satyendra Jain has been extended for another 14 days. Now his bail hearing is to be held on Tuesday.

Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last month in a money laundering case. Last week, the AAP leader’s custody was extended by a special court till June 13.

Jain also filed a bail petition in the same court.

The 57-year-old AAP leader has been accused of laundering money through four companies allegedly linked to him and where he had shares, earning more than he earned. The case is related to the 2017 CBI FIR.

Earlier this month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, targeted the central government and said: “Arrest us all.”

He said, “I would request the Prime Minister to put us all in jail together and use all the central agencies for our investigation instead of choosing us one by one. Use all your agencies against us all at once. Ask for an inquiry. Get it done once and for all. “

He had also alleged that his deputy Manish Sisodia was likely to be arrested the next day, saying that he had been informed by his sources.

However, BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani termed Kejriwal’s claims as conspiracy theories.

Mamata Banerjee was among the opposition leaders who supported AAP after the arrest.
