Agnipath Yojana:
The ‘Agnipath Yojana’ is being opposed across the country. Youth across the country have come out on the streets against this short-term military recruitment scheme and incidents of violence have taken place in many cities and towns.
The Congress also held a ‘satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today in protest against the ‘Agnipath Yojana’.
Congress party says that ‘this decision has been taken because ‘Agnipath Yojana’ has angered the youth of our country and they are protesting by taking to the streets.
“It is our responsibility to stand by them. Leaders from across the country have been asked to reach Delhi to join the Satyagraha against the Agnipath Yojana,” the Congress said in a statement.
Meanwhile, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has urged party workers and well-wishers not to celebrate his birthday in any way. In the appeal issued by Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh on behalf of MP Rahul Gandhi in the name of Congress workers and well-wishers, it has been said that ‘Rahul Gandhi has appealed to Congress workers and his well-wishers across the country that there should be no celebration on the occasion of his birthday.
“We are all worried about the situation arising across the country. The mind of crores of youth is sad. Let us share the pain of these youths, crores of families, stand with them,” he said.
Earlier on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi tweeted,”For 8 consecutive years, the BJP government has insulted the values of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. I had said earlier also that the Prime Minister will have to withdraw the Black Agriculture Act. In the same way, he will have to obey the youth of the country by becoming ‘Mafiveer’ and ‘Agneepath’ will have to be taken back.”
