Covid-19 Update:
According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday (June 22), 12,249 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in India with 13 deaths due to infection in the last 24 hours. A total of 9,862 discharges took place in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 98.61 per cent and the total recovery data reaching 4,27,25,055.
Union Health Ministry data today showed that the total active cases of COVID-19 in India has risen to 81,687. The active coronavirus cases registered yesterday stood at 79,313.
Increase in active cases
An increase of 2,374 coronavirus cases has been registered in the active COVID-19 caseload in a period of 24 hours. The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.18 per cent of the total infections.
The total death toll in the country now stands at 5,24,903. In India, the first death due to the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in March 2020. The daily positivity rate recorded on June 22 was 3.94 per cent.
ICMR tests
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 85,88,36,977 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till June 21. Of these, 3,10,623 samples were tested on Tuesday.
Maharashtra Covid-19 Tally
Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Tuesday saw a jump in its daily Covid-19 cases after the state recorded 3,659 fresh infections with one death. Besides the tally was 1,305 or 55 per cent higher than the 2,354 cases reported on Monday.
A health department official said that the number of Covid-19 cases is 79,41,762, while the death toll is 1,47,889. The number of cured in Maharashtra stood at 77,68,958 after 3,356 people were discharged in the last 24 hours.
The Maharashtra health department data showed that the recovery rate was 97.82 per cent, the mortality rate was 1.86 per cent and the positivity rate was 10.13 per cent. According to the data, with 36,094 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the total number of tests in the state has gone up to 8,16,65,314.
