Another mass firing in US ... 4 killed in Oklahoma hospital

Oklahoma City (US):

There have been reports of a mass firing incident at a hospital in the city of Tulsa in Oklahoma state, US. At least 4 people have reportedly been killed in this incident, while several are said to be injured.

According to reports, the police have killed the attacker in retaliatory action.

The name of the hospital where the shooting took place is St. Francis Hospital. The reason behind the firing is not yet clear. Eric Dalgish, a Tulsa Police Department deputy chief on Wednesday night, said it was unclear whether the gunman was targeting anyone in particular.

“Earlier this afternoon, we responded to a call about a man armed with a rifle at the Natalie Building at St. Francis Hospital. This turned into an active shooter situation. At this point, we can confirm the shooter is down at this time. Officers are currently going through every room in the building checking for additional threats. We know there are multiple injuries, and potentially multiple casualties,” the police said in a statement.

Chief Dalglish said the gunman’s identity had not been determined but was between 35 and 40 years of age.

He said that the police received a call about a shooting incident at 4:52 pm and they reached the spot four minutes later. He said all the bullets are believed to have been fired in a section of the second floor of the Natalie Medical Building on the premises of the St. Francis Hospital.

“There’s an orthopedics center, an orthopedics office, but I don’t know if it’s on the whole floor, or if there are other offices on the floor. At least part of it was visible,” he said.

Chief Dalglish said the victims could include workers and patients. Police said none of the injured suffered life-threatening injuries and that no officer was injured in the attack when the gunman opened fire with both his weapons.

The White House said US President Joe Biden was briefed about the shooting, which came just eight days after a mass firing incident in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 students and two teachers had been killed.
