Agnipath Yojana: Alleged mastermind of Secunderabad violence arrested in Telangana

An alleged mastermind of the protests against the ‘Agnipath Yojana’ in Telangana has been arrested in Secunderabad. The accused is reportedly a retired soldier of the Indian Army.

According to the police, Avula Subba Rao – the accused – allegedly plotted the violence in Secunderabad in which several trains were set on fire by protesting youth. A youth was killed in police firing during the protests against the ‘Agnipath Yojana’ in Secunderabad. 

The accused allegedy created several WhatsApp groups to instigate and mobilise disgruntled youth which led to intense violence and arson in Secunderabad.

The accused hails from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. He has been running a training academy for Indian Army aspirants with branches in at least nine other places including in Narsaraopet and Hyderabad for the past several years.

The police have also detained several people from Adoni, Kurnool, Guntur, Nellore, Amadalavalasa, Visakhapatnam and Yalamanchili.
