After Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi also tests Covid-19 positive

New Delhi:

A day after Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi tested positive for Covid-19, Priyanka Gandhi on Friday tweeted that she too has tested positive with mild symptoms.

The Congress leader tweeted, “I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. Following all the protocols, I have quarantined myself at home. I would request those who came in contact with me to take all necessary precautions.”

On Thursday, Priyanka Gandhi had cut short her Lucknow visit and returned to Delhi after Sonia Gandhi tested positive for Covid-19. No reason was given for the sudden change in schedule. The two-day meeting in Lucknow was to discuss the party’s revival strategy in Uttar Pradesh.

Sonia Gandhi had mild fever on Wednesday evening and was tested for Covid-19 on Thursday. She was found coronavirus positive.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that Sonia Gandhi met several leaders last week and some of them have been found to be Covid-19 positive. 

“The Congress President will appear before the ED on June 8, as we had told earlier. We will keep you informed about any future developments,” Surjewala said.

PM Modi wished Sonia Gandhi a speedy recovery through a post on his Twitter account on Thursday.

In a meeting of district Congress chiefs, Telangana Congress decided to offer prayers in temples, churches, mosques and gurudwaras in Telangana till Thursday for the speedy recovery of Sonia Gandhi.
