In total, central employees with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will be paid DA of Rs 84,240 per annum. DA revised twice a year

In fact, under the Seventh Pay Commission, revision is done twice in dearness allowance and inflation relief of central employees. The first is given in the month of January and the second in the month of July. The government had on March 30 hiked DA and DR by 3 per cent. After which it increased from 31 to 34 per cent.

DA is given for better living

DA is given to improve the living conditions of government employees. It is given to government employees, public sector employees and pensioners. The reason for this is that even in the face of rising inflation, the standard of living of the employees remains better.
