WB CM Mamata Banerjee warns of legal action for denying Swasthya Sathi health card

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged people to get medical treatment in the state rather than seeking aid elsewhere. The Chief Minister further asked people to get insurance under state government’s Swasthya Sathi health warned the hospitals of legal action on denying the smart card. 

“Strict action will be taken against the hospitals that refuse to accept the state government’s Swasthya Sathi health smart card,” said Banerjee. 

Banerjee said last year the state government paid Rs 36 crore to other state hospital. She emphasized the people should get medical aid here only expect for the critical cases, as the facilities have been improvised in the state. 

The CM further said, with this the money will circle round within the state instead of going out saying that the state government provide Rs 5 lakh for each Swasthya Sathi (card).  

Banerjee convened a

COVID 

review meeting. After the meeting, she said that the state is prepared to handle the possible fourth wave of coronavirus. 

However, she asserted that there is no need to panic about the situation but people should keep wearing masks.
