Sikkim: Several injured in gunfight, stone-pelting between rival political parties

Violence broke out between SDF and SKM workers in Sikkim, in which several people were injured. The violence resulted in bullets and a lot of stone-pelting. The police handled the situation somehow, after which one of the accused has been arrested.

According to police sources, shots were fired after violence broke out between activists of the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front and the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha.

Reports said that the violence started with a minor dispute over permission to pass a vehicle.

Cartridge shells and a gun holder have been recovered from the site of violence. Not only this, a video of violence is also going viral on social media, in which a person is seen lying in a pool of blood. According to sources, an alert has been sounded at various places in west and south Sikkim after the firing incident. Police has appealed to all the people to maintain peace and order.
