Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann sacks health minister over corruption charges

Chandigarh:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today sacked state health minister Vijay Singla from the cabinet on corruption charges after solid evidence was found against him. Singla was allegedly demanding one per cent commission from the officials on the tender.

Simultaneously, the Anti Corruption Branch has also arrested Singla.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the big decision has been taken in line with the anti-corruption model of party convener Arvind Kejriwal. AAP MP Raghav Chadha lauded the decision, claiming that his party is the only one with honesty and courage to take action against its own leaders.

He tweeted, “Aam Aadmi Party is the only party which has the honesty, courage and integrity to act against itself on the ground of corruption. We saw it in Delhi, now we are seeing it in Punjab. For corruption Zero tolerance. Commendable decision of CM Bhagwant Mann.”

After this tough action, Bhagwant Mann said, “Even one percent corruption will not be tolerated. People have formed the government of Aam Aadmi Party with a lot of expectations, it is our duty to live up to that expectation.”

“As long as India is the son of mother like Arvind Kejriwal and soldiers like Bhagwant Mann, the great war against corruption will continue. Arvind Kejriwal had taken a promise that we will root out the system of corruption, we are all his soldiers, there is no place for 1% corruption,” he added.

In the year 2015, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had sacked one of his ministers over a corruption case.
