Police busted the TRF module aimed to carry out targeted attacks in Srinagar on a huge scale

The police said two  Lashkar-e-Toiba (TRF) hybrid terrorists were arrested by it and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them. It indicates that the capital city Srinagar is facing a major terrorist threat. The police have been using the term hybrid terrorist with those who are not active militants but are passively working for the militancy.

Kashmir Police Chief Vijay Kumar told News24 that the arrest of hybrid terrorists big success for police, as the module was planning to carryout target killings in Srinagar on a huge scale.

Top Police officials said that two hybrid terrorists of The Resistance Front an offshoot of Lashkar-i-Toiba were arrested from the Chanapora area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Officials said these terrorists were part of the ‘TRF’ module planning to carry out target killings as 15 pistols were recovered from their possession which indicates the module was about to launch hit and run targets.

Jammu and Kashmir tweeted while quoting Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar “Srinagar Police arrested 2 local hybrid militants of militant outfit LeT/TRF. Incriminating materials, arms & ammn including 15 pistols, 30 magazines, 300 rounds & 1 silencer recovered. Case registered. Investigation going on. It is a big success for Police”.

Top police sources told News24 that, a threat poster of ‘TRF’ against the upcoming Amarnath Yatra was viral on social media in the last few days, which pressed the alarm bell among the security establishment and forces intensified operations against the terrorist outfit. During the operation, a major targeted killing module of ‘TRF’ in Srinagar was busted. Police officials said that further questioning of the arrested terrorists is on and some more arrests are expected in the coming days.
