Government oil marketing companies today reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 8.69 and Rs 7.35 per liter respectively on Sunday, May 22. This is because the central government has cut the central excise duty on both the fuels by Rs 8 and Rs 7 respectively.
The price of petrol and diesel have increased significantly this year. But from April 7, there was no change in its price. After 45 days, the government has decided to reduce the central excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre.
After this reduction, one liter of petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 96.72 per liter while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per liter. At the same time, the price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 111.35 and the price of diesel is Rs 97.28 per liter. The price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 while the price of diesel is Rs 92.76 per liter. On the other hand, in Chennai, petrol is getting Rs 102.63 per liter and diesel is getting Rs 94.24 per liter.
