Section 144 imposed in Noida: What does it mean

No one should be allowed to hold protests or hunger strikes without the permission of the higher authorities. The Police Commissionerate of Gautam Budh Nagar said in a statement that holding of worship and prayers in public places will not be allowed.

In April, following a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Uttar Pradesh government made wearing face masks mandatory in public places.

Police said last week that over a thousand people were penalized in Noida and Greater Noida in a day after they were found without face masks in public places amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to the ministry, India’s active caseload currently stands at 19,092.
