Nigeria: Boko Haram terrorists kill over 50 farmers in Borno

Lagos (Nigeria): 

A deadly terrorist attack has taken place in Nigeria. At least 50 people are reported to have been killed in a terrorist attack in Borno province, near the border with Cameroon in the country’s northeast.

The number of injured is high and the condition of some of them is said to be critical. Local residents believe the attack was carried out by the Boko Haram terrorist group. Borno state in Nigeria’s northeast has been devastated by terrorist attacks since 2009.

According to a local farmer, “We are all very scared after this incident. We are the ones who buried 50 dead. Most of the dead were working in the fields at the time of the terrorist attack. The rest went to get wood. A large number of Boko Haram militants came on motorcycles and started firing indiscriminately. Many people died in front of our eyes.”

Boko Haram has targeted farmers, herdsmen and loggers, accusing them of spying and providing information to the Nigerian military. They are looking for communities of pastoralists and stealing cattle, which gives great employment to the people in the region.

Inspired by Boko Haram, the Islamic State (ISIS) group continues to claim responsibility for attacks in various locations called West Africa Province. However, locals claim that the attack was carried out by Boko Haram.
