Nepal Plane Crash: Bodies of 14 people on board Tara Air plane recovered, 8 still missing

Kathmandu: 

Nepal’s military on Monday traced the spot where a Nepalese private airlines plane crashed on Sunday. According to the Nepalese army, the bodies of 14 people have been recovered, although the bodies of some people are yet to be identified. 

Tara Air’s 9 NAET twin-engine aircraft, carrying 22 people, including four Indians, crashed in Kowang village of Mustang district, hours after it went missing in the hills district on Sunday morning.

Dead bodies not yet identified

A team led by Police Inspector Raj Kumar Tamang reached the accident site by air. Officials said some of the bodies of the passengers are yet to be identified. At the moment, the police are collecting the remains. 

Four Indians were also on board the plane

According to the information given by the local people to the Nepal Army, the Tara Air plane crashed at the mouth of Lamche river due to landslide in Manapati Himal. 4 Indians, 3 foreigners and 13 Nepalese nationals were on board this 19-seater aircraft. According to sources, army officials saw smoke rising from a distance, following which the aircraft was traced.

Difficulty in rescue due to bad weather

Nepal Army spokesman Narayan Silwal said that according to the information given by the local people to the Nepal Army, the Tara Air plane crashed at the mouth of Lamche river due to landslide. Nepal’s army was finding it difficult to rescue due to bad weather.

The plane took off on Sunday morning

An aircraft of Tara Air took off in Nepal on Sunday morning. According to airport officials, Tara Air’s double engine aircraft took off from Pokhara to Jomsom in the morning. The last contact with the plane was made at 9:55 am. Officials said the plane was only for a 15-minute flight and had 22 people, including 19 passengers, on board.
