Independent MP from Amravati Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana have got relief from the court. The court has adjourned the hearing till June 15 on the petition for cancellation of bail registered against both of them.

Earlier, the court had asked the Rana couple to file a reply by May 18 regarding the violation of bail conditions. Rana couple’s lawyer Rizwan Merchant has filed a reply in the court today. The next hearing on which will be on June 15.

Apart from this, Rana’s lawyer had applied for exemption from the presence of both in the court for today, which was accepted by the court.

Advocate Rizwan Merchant said, “We have not violated any conditions. No one can stop the reading of Hanuman Chalisa. It is our fundamental right. The case is on reading Hanuman Chalisa on Matoshree on which we have not spoken anything.”

Public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said, “Today we came to know that the copy of the notice was not given as the Supreme Court has stayed 124A till the next hearing. But we said that the matter is not only on 124A, there are other sections as well, so the case of violation is made under those sections also.”

The government side had demanded the issuance of non-bailable warrants against the Rana couple, alleging violation of bail conditions.

While granting bail, the court had placed many conditions in front of the Rana couple. One of which was also a condition not to issue a statement in the media.

After getting bail, Navneet Rana was directly admitted to Lilavati Hospital. After getting discharged from the hospital, Navneet and Ravi Rana talked to TV channels and took a dig at the Uddhav government.
