Maharashtra: BMC gives notice to Rana couple; Know why

Mumbai:

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday issued show cause notices to Amaravati MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana under section 351(1A) of the Municipal Corporations Act.

The BMC has asked the MP-MLA couple to file a reply within seven days.

According to the notice, “If the Rana couple fails to describe sufficient cause, the BMC shall take action against the mentioned construction without his permission and shall also be prosecuted under section 475A of the said Act.”

BMC officials had inspected the apartment of MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana in Khar on Monday afternoon. According to officials, prima facie the violations were found on the eighth floor of Lavi Bhawan where Rana resides.

Earlier, the court had also issued notice to the Rana couple for violating the bail conditions. Both have to reply to the notice on May 18. The public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat had filed an application in the sessions court in Mumbai alleging that the Rana couple had violated the bail conditions. After hearing this petition, the court issued a notice and asked why non-bailable warrants should not be issued against both of them. Now the Rana couple will have to answer on this.
