Madhya Pradesh: Mob lynch two tribal men over suspicion of cow slaughter, one arrested

Bhopal: 

The Police have arrested one person and detained three suspects allegedly for thrashing two tribal men to death over the suspicion of cow slaughter in Simaria village of Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh. 

“Last night, police received information that 15-20 men thrashed two tribal men after they were caught with cow meat. Both of them died today in the morning. FIR in the case has been registered. One person is arrested and three to four people have been detained on suspicion,” Kumar Prateek, Superintendent of Police told reporters on Tuesday. 

As many as three teams of police personnel have been prepared to arrest the rest of the accused. Informing about the formation of teams, he said, “The victims were attacked on suspicion of transporting cows.” 

The incident sparked rage among the people, following which on Tuesday, the locals gathered in front of the Kurai tehsil headquarters and staged a protest. 

As per the media reports, the two men were died while taken to the hospital as they were beaten brutally.  

The demonstration was also joined by Congress leader and Local MLA Arjun Singh Kakodiya demanding justice for the tribal men who succumbed to their injuries. 

Owing to the demonstration, the NH44 was blocked resulting in queuing up of vehicles for several kilometres. 

Meanwhile, there is a heavy deployment of police personnel in the area. The investigation is underway.
