'Legal action to be taken against Raj Thackeray if he made objectionable remarks,': Shiv Sena leader

Mumbai:

Shiv Sena leader Kishori Pednekar on Monday said the legal action will be taken against the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray if he had made objectionable remarks during his speech on May 1. She said the law is equal for everyone and appealed all the communities to maintain peace.

“No one including Muslims opposed Hanuman Chalisa… Loudspeakers will be removed from temples and mosques. Appeal to all to maintain peace… Law is equal for all. If Raj Thackeray has said anything objectionable in his speech then action will be taken against him,” said Kishori Pednekar.

Pednekar further said, “Loudspeakers should be used in accordance with noise pollution rules. If anyone breaches prescribed decibel limit then loudspeaker should be removed… MNS workers shouldn’t take the law into their hands otherwise their life will be wasted attending court dates.”

Padnekar’s remarks on MNS workers came after Raj Thackeray said he will take charge is the speakers from the mosque will not be removed by May 4.

Thackeray in his speech on Sunday said, “Today is the first day of Maharashtra (Maharashtra Day). I won’t listen from 4th day from now. Wherever we’ll see a loudspeaker, we’ll also chant Hanuman Chalisa in front of the loudspeaker. I request Police to stop loudspeakers. If they won’t listen, we’ll take action.”

He reiterated, “This is not a religious issue. It is a national issue but if you stop us, we will also take a stand. Loudspeakers are not as per law. Supreme Court already said that it was illegal.”

“One journalist asked me why do you take a stand on loudspeakers today. I said that we chant Hanuman Chalisa and Muslims should listen. A Nashik journalist told me that he is a Muslim and that he also has a problem with loudspeakers. His children can’t sleep,” he added.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray held a mega rally in Aurangabad on May 1.
