Know all about new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena

Delhi has got a new Lieutenant Governor in the form of Vinay Kumar Saxena following the resignation of Anil Baijal, who had recently stepped down from the post citing personal reasons. 

On Monday, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Anil Baijal and appointed Vinay Kumar Saxena as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

Who is Vinay Kumar Saxena?

Vinay Kumar Saxena is currently the chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). Born on March 23, 1958, Saxena is presently the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission. An alumnus of Kanpur University with a pilot licence, Saxena was appointed as one of the members of the National Committee to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence on March 5, 2021.

Studied from Kanpur University. He is presently the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industry Commission. Vinay Kumar has worked in the corporate as well as in the NGO sector. The new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi had contributed significantly to the Sardar Sarovar project in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He has also worked in the area of water resource development, fighting social malpractices and disaster management support.

On May 18, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal suddenly resigned. Anil Baijal, a 1969 batch IAS officer, was appointed as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in 2016 replacing Najeeb Jung. Baijal had given personal reasons behind the resignation. The confrontation between the Kejriwal government of Delhi and former Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has been a number of conflicts.
